What you're looking at — and what you aren't

Every dot is a structure registered with the Federal Communications Commission. Registration is triggered by height and location rather than by what's mounted on top, so the registry mixes cellular towers with broadcast masts, water tanks, rooftop mounts and utility poles. It is public information, and it's the same registry the agency itself publishes.

A registered structure is also not necessarily transmitting today. The registry records the structure, not what's currently switched on.

And the towers are the small part. What this map cannot show you is most of what you actually live inside:

  • Satellites. More than 16,000 active satellites are in orbit right now, and the constellations are still being launched. A good share of them beam continuously, and the map has no layer for the sky.
  • Small cells. The refrigerator-sized boxes on streetlights and utility poles usually sit below the height that triggers FCC registration, so most never appear here at all.
  • Everything inside your walls. Your Wi‑Fi router. Your smart meter. Bluetooth earbuds, watches, and speakers. The microwave. LED lighting. Smart TVs. Laptops and tablets. Key fobs. The baby monitor.
  • Your neighbours' version of all of it. In an apartment building, every unit runs its own router and its own devices, and none of it stops at the wall between you.
  • Wiring itself. Household electrical wiring, fiber and cable runs, and the transformers and lines feeding the block.

Distance is what makes this counterintuitive. A tower two miles away is on this map. A router four feet from your pillow, running all night, every night, is not — and it is far closer to you, for far more hours. Treat the map as a floor, not a ceiling.

Outside is the visible part

Towers are the part of the picture you can point at, which is exactly why they're the part people argue about — and the easiest part to count.

The map is a starting point

Some addresses show nothing within five miles. Others show dozens. Either way, the registry is one slice of the picture rather than the whole of it.

The map shows what's outside. There's a second half.

Seeing what surrounds you is genuinely useful. It also doesn't change what your body has already taken on — one room and one year at a time, since long before you looked at a map. Turning down what arrives tomorrow can't reach what's already been absorbed.

Data source. Federal Communications Commission Antenna Structure Registration (ASR), public bulk dataset, snapshot dated August 16, 2026. Filtered to the 141,592 structures marked “constructed”; structures that are merely proposed, granted or since dismantled are excluded. Heights shown are overall height above ground level, converted from the registry's metres to feet.

What registration covers. A structure generally enters the ASR because of its height or its proximity to an airport, not because of what it transmits. The registry therefore includes non-cellular structures, excludes most small cells and rooftop micro-installations, and does not indicate whether a structure is actively transmitting. Locations are as filed and may be approximate; the registry changes continuously, so this snapshot will drift from the FCC's live record.

Address lookups. Searches are sent to OpenStreetMap's public Nominatim geocoder to convert text into coordinates. EMF Gone does not store your address or your location. Map tiles and geocoding © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL).

Other sources named on this page. The active-satellite figure is drawn from CelesTrak's public catalogue of objects on orbit, which listed more than 16,000 active satellites when this page was last updated; the count rises as new constellations launch. Indoor and small-cell sources are listed because they are absent from the FCC registry, not because this tool measures them.
